Just back from a beautiful round of workshops in Victoria – a session in Melbourne with the sensationally organised Yarra Gospel, then a weekend workshop in Melbourne (special thanks to Annemarie Sharry & her fabulous South of the River Choir for raising the roof on the Friday night session, to Sue Johnson – and to LA Hall & Jo Maunsell, both of whom were previously soloists with the Café of the Gate of Salvation, and a weekend workshop in Warrnambool (thanks to the Resonators & the Red Tent Singers for joining us). Thanks to all for some great singing and for turning some unexpected & lustrous musical corners. This is the end of my workshop year for 2019, but my work is not yet done: I’m very happy to be part of the Café of the Gate of Salvation’s Gospel & Soul gig on December 1 at Clovelly Bowlo. COTGOS ex-director Dynes Austin will also be guesting, & I get to sing a couple of solos and sing on some new material or revamped material – like Don’t Wait For Sunday with a funk band.
