Bula! Just back from a glorious week in Fiji singing with 40 or so very enthusiastic participants on my second Coconut Chorus vocal retreat. As well as our regular singing sessions at First Landing Resort (how good was that omelette!), we had the wonderful experience of visiting villages (how good was that kava?) and connecting with local singers (how high were those sopranos!!!!!) . Fijians sing with great beauty and power, and their effortless energy and commitment brought tears to our eyes. Thank you to Andrew and John from Coconut Chorus, to Solo and his lovely family, and the village of Nawaka, and to Sevati, Sito, Luisa and all in the wonderful Koi Vuda male chorus and their female counterparts from Lauwaki village. I’m looking forward to doing it all again in August.
