So it was a fabulous weekend workshop in Machans Beach, just out of Cairns, the steamy climate outside matched by the wildness and heat generated by the singers in the room. Thanks to Genevieve and Phil for the local knowledge & logistics, and thanks to all who sang, and a special accolade to Wendy for the persimmons and coffee.
After a brief stop home in Sydney to repack my bags, I now find myself back in NZ  (a rude temperature change from 27° in Cairns to 5° in Napier) for the foreseeable…there are many compelling reasons for my return, but right now I need to be back to Napier to see my dear friend and musical brother Fane. Our We Disappear album is finally available, but there’s every chance his rocky health will prohibit him from finishing all his/our currently incomplete albums, so fellow Bendmate Peter Dasent and I are currently here to help. In June I will return to my Napier house to live, Jann will follow me over the ditch in July, and I have several NZ workshops lined up for the second half of the year. I’ll be back for an Australian tour (including Summersong I hope) next year.
