Feels good to be working again. October has been a busy month for me, with workshops in Hobart, many rehearsals and a couple of gigs in Sydney. I’ve been back with the Cafe of the Gate of Salvation since July, acting as an interim director and working on new material; we had a great gig in the lovely acoustic of the Paddington Uniting Church with the choir’s favoured keyboard player Scott Saunders. The Heavenly Light Quartet sang one night to a packed room at the Petersham Bowling Club, (our first performance in two years — the suits still fit— yep, we’ve worn them now for 25 years —and yes, Willy sounded amazing); and the Cafe and the Honeybees combined to sing on the steps of the Opera House as part of the Opera House’s 50th celebrations. Thanks to all involved, and thanks to Stuart, Frank, Judith & Steve for keeping us all on track.
Now I’m off to NZ for a month of workshops: Arrowtown, Christchurch, Nelson, Wellington, Martinborough & the Mana Retreat Centre—its a road trip with my beloved and an opportunity to catch with many old chums.
