From the Tiki room

Spending a couple of weeks in Napier inbetween NZ workshops – I’m staying in the tiki room at Fane Flaws’ wacky abode, and as one would expect we’re working on We Disappear, our long-delayed recording of songs we’ve made from Sam Hunt poems. Anton Wuts has made my day by dropping in to whip out some brutal yet sexy Coltrane meets King Curtis tenor honking on Beware The Man, & Peter Dasent has just arrived from Sydney to add a veneer of sophistication to our louche & demented endeavours.

It’s looking good – this is the last push to complete this opus (and we’ve been motivated by a grant from Creative NZ), & all the songs are, say, 95% complete. & it’s now just down to adding final touch-ups on keys (Peter), vocals (Fane & the No Engine singers Margot Pierard & Nicole Taylor) & the mandatory psychedelic guitar (Fane). Look out for the album in August/September this year, and look out for the Bend on our NZ tour around then.
