The Bend - Undressing the Song 2016

Tony Backhouse - Thursday, December 08, 2016

Looking forward very much to being on the road for the annual BEND house concert tour, where we UNDRESS THE SONG. In other words, play a bunch of stuff we've written and make up some fibs about the gestation of these items. This time we'll be playing songs as old as 1974 (Beware The Man, originally recorded by Mammal) and as fresh as tomorrow - actually, that's when we'll be learning it (The Bus to Penny Lane, still warm from the fevered imagination and furrowed brows of Dasent, Baysting & Flaws) - and we'll be revisiting a few songs from the repertoire of Spats, the Crocodiles, the Blue Tongues, Rough Justice, I Am Joe's Music, Blessèd Relief and No Engine. In case this is all news to you, the BEND is:
Fane Flaws - guitar/vocals/songwriting
Peter Dasent - keys/vocals/songwriting
Tony Backhouse - bass/vocals/songwriting
Andrew Gladstone - drums/vocals/boyish good looks.
We'll be on tour from the 12th to the 24th of December: Blenheim, Lyttleton, Oamaru, Dunedin, Gore, Wanaka, Queenstown, Nelson, Wellington, Carterton & Hastings. Traveling in a van. Fighting over who gets the pillow.
