Gospel Tour 2016 - places filling fast

Tony Backhouse - Monday, August 31, 2015

We are now taking bookings for the 9th US GOSPEL TOUR, but it's already more than half full, holy cow, that was quick! We take only 40 participants, but once the tour is fully subscribed, we'll open a waiting list - because life can be capricious and you never know your luck. Responding to feedback from the previous tour, we've decided to spend an extra day in Chicago (think Frank Lloyd Wright tours, deep dish pizza, the Art Institute of Chicago, blues clubs, good coffee, musical theatre, jazz, the Center for Black Music Research, caramel & cheese popcorn and some rocking gospel in the city most responsible for the creation of the gospel tradition). A fabulous city with great public art and public spaces, I'm looking forward to that - but then I'm looking forward to Memphis and New Orleans too.
It's 10 years since Katrina, and while there are still problems to be resolved in that city, New Orleans is still a potent brew. I'm not sure I've ever felt happier than when I'm sizzling in the gorgeous noise of a brass band funkin' it up on Frenchman St. - or more alive than when I'm at Holy Ghost Headquarters, Ebenezer Baptist Church.
